  • Chrissy Teigen fired back at Michael Costello's allegations of bullying
  • She claimed the alleged cyberbullying DM screenshots he shared were fake
  • The model threatened to sue Costello, saying any money she gets will go to an anti-bullying charity

Chrissy Teigen has broken her silence on Michael Costello's bullying allegations and threatened legal action against the fashion designer for sharing what she and husband John Legend called "fabricated" DMs.

Shortly after Teigen shared a lengthy apology for her past behavior Monday, the "Project Runway" alum claimed the model sent him harmful messages and threatened his career in 2014. On Friday, Teigen posted a lengthy Instagram caption and a statement written on her behalf that addressed Costello's allegations.

"No idea what the f--k michael costello is doing," Teigen wrote in her caption, referring to the designer's recent statement claiming he has emails and documents that prove the cookbook author "has gone beyond social media to blacklist Michael Costello offline."

"He just released a statement where he didn’t at ALL acknowledge how fake the dm’s were, & now claims to have emails that don’t exist. So while he conjures those up (hopefully with someone more talented in fakes this time), here," Teigen wrote.

She continued, "And remember yesterday how confused he was about Leona Lewis’ stylists being so kind to him in recent years? Well imagine my surprise when I have these from the past 3 years."

Teigen made it clear that she does not want anyone bullying Costello "under the masquerade of defending" her.

"I've taken it ALL. I've heard it all. I just beg for you to know the truth. Michael, you are now causing actual pain to people who are trying to better themselves. Enough. Or this WILL go further. Not here, but an actual court of law," she added. "And every dime we win will go to an anti bullying charity focused on turning this s--- show into a positive."

In the statement, Teigen mentioned several messages that she received from Costello up until 2019 as well as attached alleged screenshots of her Instagram DMs with him.

This came just hours after her husband, John Legend, defended her against Costello's allegations and said the DM screenshots the designer posted were "fabricated." Legend tweeted, "I encourage everyone who breathlessly spread this lie to keep that same energy when they correct the record."

Teigen's team also alleged to Business Insider that Costello's screenshots "appear to be manipulated," pointing out several inconsistencies. They noted that the message colors and the video chat option in his screenshots weren’t available on Instagram until years after Costello claimed he received the DM.

In response, Costello's team said in a statement obtained by People that Teigen was "desperately trying to prove the DMs are fake" as they painted her as a "bully."

The statement further claimed that the designer had "emails and documents unreleased to the public which confirms Chrissy Teigen has gone beyond social media to blacklist Michael Costello offline, making him endure over seven years of suffering - mentally and financially."

Leona Lewis previously defended Teigen as she accused Costello of leaving her with "deep insecurities" after a perceived snub over a dress she was wearing at a charity fashion show in 2014.

"We all make mistakes, I know that I have, but at this time I feel that when people apologize (Chrissy) and show sincere remorse and rehabilitation for their actions, we should embrace them and not try and kick them when they're down," Lewis wrote.
