Christian Eriksen is a Danish soccer star who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Denmark national team and Inter Milan. Here's how much he is worth in 2021.
The 29-year-old athlete’s net worth is valued at $25 million as of this year, according to Celebrity Net Worth. When his contract at Tottenham Hotspur was set to expire in six months, Eriksen signed a 4.5-year deal with Inter Milan in January 2020 that pays him $8 million a year, the outlet said.
Eriksen’s contract will have him play with the Serie A club until 2024 and is expected to pay him approximately $140,000 per week after tax during the validity of the deal, U.K. outlet The Times' Gary Jacob reported in January last year. Tottenham Hotspur reportedly initially hoped to get a deal of more than $28 million for the playmaker, according to Bleacher Report.
Prior to signing with Inter Milan, he previously played for Middelfart and Odense Boldklub before transferring to Ajax for a fee of nearly $1 million. In 2013, he was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur for a reported $11 million.
In 2018, the soccer player was earning more than $100,000 per week while playing for the Spurs, according to CoEd.
Eriksen was considered one of the Spurs’ top players, and rumors of his reluctance to extend his contract with Tottenham allegedly prompted club chairman Daniel Levy to offer the star player a deal that would pay him $13.5 million annually, Forbes reported in 2019.
By 2020, Eriksen's salary had shot up to around $230,000 per week, according to The Times, but Eriksen agreed to reduced wages of around $175,000 per week to help facilitate his move to Inter Milan last year, reports said.
While playing in the Premier League, Eriksen recorded 51 goals and 62 assists in 226 appearances. During his stint in Tottenham, the athlete created more than 550 goal-scoring opportunities in the Premier League, according to Forbes, which noted that this was more than any other player in the division.
On Saturday, Eriksen was taken to a hospital after suffering cardiac arrest on the field during Denmark's opening Euro 2020 match against Finland.
Shortly before the incident, Eriksen played a short pass, after which he fell facedown on the ground. Medical professionals in the area immediately tended to the athlete and treated him for 10 minutes as the game was suspended.
Officials announced on the same day that he was in stable condition in the hospital. But Morten Boesen, the team’s doctor, said Eriksen was “gone” before he was resuscitated, ESPN reported.
