“#TeamGrimmie, due to circumstances beyond our control, the release date for ‘All Is Vanity’ has been moved to June 9th. We sincerely apologize as we know many of you are excited about this release. Let’s shift that enthusiasm to next week’s #NewMusicFriday on 6/9/17. Let the countdown begin!!!! _ #CGforever," according to her official Instagram account at the time.
Last November, Grimmie’s family released her music video she made before she died.
“The story follows a young girl's journey into self-discovery through her love life, her womanhood, and her music,” Brian, Grimmie’s longtime manager, and stepfather wrote in a Twitter post at the time. “‘Jessica’ is at a crossroads in her life. She becomes suspicious of her boyfriend and is gripped by insecurities only to realize that she is doing more damage to her own heart and future than any relationship ever could,” he added.
Grimmie died after she was shot twice in the head and chest by 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, who reportedly was attracted to her. According to the autopsy report, the singer did not have any drugs or alcohol in her system when she died.
Last June, TMZ reported Loibl made every attempt to lure Grimmie. He got hair transplants and Lasik eye surgery and also followed a vegan diet to get into shape. The entertainment website also said Loibl’s co-workers at the Best Buy said they were aware of his obsession with Grimmie because talked to them about marrying her. He would also listen to her music during work. Loibl shot himself to death after killing Grimmie.
The singer was buried June 16 in New Jersey. Her family and fans carried out several candlelight vigils in her honor. In April, Adam Levine and his team on “The Voice” sang a tribute song for Grimmie.
“God, I loved her so much. I am talking to you guys specifically, I’m talking to everybody. I miss her,” Levine said at the time. “It is unfair she is not here. We are going to sing a little song. I am going to be singing every word to her in her honor. Thank you for being here. Christina, we love you,” he added.
