Christopher Kane Wakes up Barney’s with Some Neon
There is nothing like some neon in the morning.
Bright and early on Thursday Nov. 10, Christopher Kane debuted his Resort 2012 capsule collaboration with J Brand at Barney's New York.
The line displays a fantastically electric palette, quintessential of Kane's taste. About neon he says, It's in my DNA now. Colors include Barbie pink, zesty sunshine yellow, and safety cone orange, writes Fashionista.
Over shots of espresso and oatmeal, guests sat at Barney's new interactive genes@CO-OP café and used the touch screens place settings, which allow shoppers to browse the store's selections.
Kane then introduced his collection of neon flares, cut-offs, shorts, and cropped jackets, a line that is certain to make people sit up and see it, he said.
And, the best part is, all of the items are under $300.
J Brand's founder and CEO Jeff Rudes interviewed Kane about everything from the inspiration behind the line, his collaboration with J Brand, and Kate Middleton.
He talked about his love of French fries, AMC's The Walking Dead, and Scottish women, whom he gets great inspiration from. Kane says the best part about them is that they aren't even trying.
Kane followed up with Women's Wear Daily on the Middleton topic, citing that he wishes the Duchess would support more designers and didn't approve of the high street getting so much of the credit.
Michelle Obama does such a great mix. Kate is such a beautiful girl and it's such a shame she's not working with more designers. She's iconic and will only become more iconic.
Christopher Kane is a Scottish designer, based in London. He is emerging as one of the hottest designers in the British fashion scene. His collaboration with J Brand and debut in Barney's gets him one step closer to taking on New York.
The line is available at Barney's, online at Barneys.com, and online at JBrandJeans.com.
