Movie lovers in Hong Kong and Taiwan will get a chance to witness Christopher Nolan’s epic “The Dark Knight” trilogy once again as Warner Bros. is set to rerelease the entire trilogy for a limited period of time in the two regions.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the development comes as both regions reopened movie theaters earlier this month. All the theaters previously had to shut their doors in accordance with the strict guidelines that were imposed by the government due to the ongoing pandemic.
In Taiwan, the movies will start screening on May 29 while the theaters in Hong Kong will start showing the trilogy on June 4.
The first film “Batman Begins” will be screened in Hong Kong on June 4, followed by “The Dark Knight” on June 11, and “The Dark Knight Rises” on June 18.
It should be noted that Nolan shot a crucial scene of “The Dark Knight” in Hong Kong where Batman leaped from one building to another to catch a man who is associated with the gangsters of Gotham City.
The trilogy started in 2005 when Nolan decided to bring back the iconic character to the big screen with “Batman Begins.” Christian Bale was given the chance to portray the caped crusader and Katie Holmes played his love interest.
The movie turned out to be a massive success for the “Dunkirk” filmmaker and Warner Bros. It received positive reviews and earned a total of $371 million globally.
In 2008, Nolan came out with the second installment named “The Dark Knight.” The movie introduced Heath Ledger as Joker, who is known to be Batman’s greatest foe. The feature film shattered all the expectations and became a gigantic hit. The critics, as well as the audience, praised Nolan for his vision and amazing storyline.
Ledger was instantly called the breakout star of the movie and received universal acclaim for his acting. He also won an Oscar for the project in the Best Supporting Actor category posthumously.
The movie made more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and is still the highest-rated superhero movie on IMDb.
Meanwhile, the third and last part of the trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises,” was released in 2012. Nolan ended the trilogy on a high note with another masterpiece and critics started to compare the trilogy with the “Lord Of The Rings” franchise, which is one of the most successful trilogies of all time.
It became the second movie in the trilogy to rake in more than $1 billion globally.
The trilogy also featured actors like Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway and Aaron Eckhart in pivotal roles.
