‘Claws’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 9 Synopsis, Trailer Released

Desna (Niecy Nash) continues to search for the truth in Season 1, episode 9 of “Claws.”

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, Desna goes sleuthing to find out why Roller (Jack Kesy) was embezzling money from the clinic and was secretly working for Riva (Andrea Sooch) and the Russians. When Desna discovers something of value, she reaches out to the only person who can save her.

While the episode summary doesn’t reveal the identity of the character that can save Desna, it looks like the only powerful figure in Palmetto who can protect her is none other than Dixie Mafia’s head, Uncle Daddy (Dean Norris).

At the end of Season 1, episode 8, Desna revealed to Roller that she already knows about his business with Riva and the Russians. Desna told Roller that she won’t say a thing about it to Uncle Daddy, but in return, Roller must let her and Virginia (Karrueche Tran) get away from trying to kill him. Although that sounded like a good deal, Roller didn’t accept Desna’s offer and even threatened to kill her.

The trailer for Season 1, episode 9 reveals that Roller takes Desna as hostage. Although it appears that he eventually releases her, the nail owner has to deal with yet another problem. In the promo clip, Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes) tells her crew that her girlfriend cop, Arlene (Suleka Mathew), is getting a warrant to arrest Desna.

Last episode, Arlene visited Roller’s beachside house to find out what really went down there a few days before he was wrongly proclaimed dead. When the files she had with her accidently fell, Arlene found a fake nail on Roller’s dock. The fake nail has blood on it, and it seems that Arlene eventually learns that it belongs to Desna.

While it remains to be seen whether Desna will be arrested soon, the trailer for the next episode shows a police officer handcuffing Polly (Carrie Preston) at the salon. Does this mean the authorities have already discovered that Polly planted money in the Coombses’ house? Or is Polly being arrested for a completely different crime?

“Claws” Season 1, episode 9, titled “Ambrosia,” airs on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
