Clifford Trailer Draws Mixed Reactions For Character’s Appearance
He’s a classic book character that has entertained children for decades, and for the first time, he is finally hitting the big screens in a live-action film. However, some are a little divided now after getting their first glimpse at the character in a trailer.
In a short teaser clip for the “Clifford The Big Red Dog” movie, which is scheduled to arrive in movie theaters in 2021, pets who have kept people company during 2020 quarantines are honored for being what they are—with the focus being on love overall. The camera pans over different dogs who keep getting bigger in size, before eventually panning to Clifford—and encouraging viewers to get ready to “love even bigger.”
However, Clifford’s appearance has some feeling a bit differently about the film.
Some are confused by the way the dog looks, because of how badly they felt the CGI was done.
Others just felt the portrayal wasn’t right overall, and it made some of their nightmares a reality.
Some were hesitant to say that they didn’t think he looked as bad as people made it seem.
Still, some felt the movie was still worth going to see when it hit theaters.
An actual release date for the film was not given, though it has been reported as having a tentative schedule date for Nov. 5, 2021. It is unclear how the currently ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic could potentially alter the planned release date.
While promising vaccine trials have given more hope that the Pandemic could be under control by mid-2021, a surge in cases across the United States and around the world has also raised new concerns. Movies and many other events were postponed in 2020—with some choosing to release on streaming services instead of waiting for big theater releases.
One such film was Disney’s planned live-action remake of “Mulan,” which was supposed to be released in theaters in March, but was postponed as the pandemic began to take hold around the world and force quarantines and shutdowns—including movie theaters.
With theaters still not open in some markets, or at reduced capacity in others, Disney instead released the film on their Disney+ streaming service in September, with those who paid for the subscription able to pay an additional $29.99 for Premier Access to the movie. It was expected to get a wide release on the platform in December.
