The Los Angeles Clippers could use a veteran big man like Joakim Noah but it appears this option has been put on hold. The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year was supposed to work out with the Clippers but such did not push through.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Noah was no longer expected to work out with the Clips. This means that they will be entering training camp with one open roster spot per sources. It was not mentioned if Noah would still get a chance at that roster opening.

The 34-year-old Noah would have made sense to the Clippers who could use a shot in the arm upfront. Before the Clippers, he also worked out with the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, the purple and gold opted to sign Dwight Howard to a non-guaranteed deal. The 6-foot-11 center will fill up the void left by DeMarcus Cousins who will likely miss the 2019-20 season due to an ACL injury. Much of this was covered in a previous post.

While the door is not entirely shut on Noah joining the Clippers, the 6-foot-11 center-forward could take his act elsewhere. Injuries have been a problem for the 9th overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft who had his best years with the Chicago Bulls.

Looking ahead, Noah would best fit a team planning a serious run to the NBA title. He is the typical role player who is not afraid to do the dirty work, not to mention raise a team's level of energy once he checks in. Noah owns career averages of 8.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. If healthy and given the right playing time, the French basketball cager can certainly jack up those numbers and help any team willing to take him in.

The best to expect for the two-time NBA All-Star is either a 10-day contract or a veteran's minimum. Some team could give him a chance soon and hopefully be present for that team once training camp begins. With most spots filled, the best he can hope for is a bench role and potentially work his way towards the starting unit this 2019-20 NBA season.
