CMA Awards 2012: Winners List And Stars On The Red Carpet For Country Music Association Awards [PHOTOS]
Country music's most important night came and went on Thursday during the 2012 CMA Awards, where country's biggest stars walked the red carpet and Blake Shelton, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert went home as big winners.
The 46th annual CMA Awards took place at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, where stars walked the Macy's Walk of Starts Red Carpet before the show.
The awards were hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley for the fifth year in a row. Tim Allen, Connie Britton, Shawn Johnson, Jana Kramer, Reba, Lisa Marie Presley, Kimberly Williams Paisley and Hayden Panettiere presented awards.
Shelton from "The Voice" took home three trophies, including his third male vocalist award. His wife, Lambert, won the female vocalist award as well as the song of the year with Shelton for "Over You." The couple wrote the song after Shelton's brother Richie who died in a car wreck 15 years ago.
"For me as a songwriter that is as personal as I can get," Shelton said. "So that songwriter award, song of the year award, it will have its own shelf. It will have spotlights on it and an alarm and everything. Trip wires and there will be a land mine if you walk towards it. It is a real big deal to Miranda and I."
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, despite having sold 1.2 million copies of "Red" in its first week, did not win any of the three awards she was nominated for.
On Thursday on ABC's "Good Morning America," early winners were announced ahead of the awards show. Kenny Chesney was named the winner of the CMA Award for Musical Event for “Feel Like a Rockstar,” with Tim McGraw. Toby Keith won Music Video of the Year for his hit single “Red Solo Cup.”
On the red carpet, Taylor Swift wore a red and nude gown by Jenny Packham matching her red lipstick, Carrie Underwood wore a gold and white Reem Acra dress with husband Mike Fisher on her arm, big winner Miranda Lambert wore a Maria Lucia Hohan gown, Faith Hill wore a Roland Mouret dress, Kellie Pickler wore an icy blue Pamella Roland gown that complemented her new short 'do and "Nashville" star Hayden Panetierre wore a Georges Chakra dress with Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Lucy Hale of "Pretty Little Liars" wearing Moschino said she has a country album coming out in 2013.
Performances kicked off with Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Eric Church. Other performers included The Band Perry with "Better Dig" off their new album, Tim McGraw with "One of Those Nights," Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum and Blake Shelton performed to honor lifetime achievement recipient Willie Nelson, Swift performed "Begin Again" off of her new album "Red" and Kelly Clarkson and Vince Gill performed "Don't Rush." New artist of the year winner Hunter Hayes, Eli Young Band and Zac Brown Band also performed.
