"Cobra Kai" series star Ralph Macchio has opened up about how filming a certain part of the latest episode made him think about Sylvester Stallone and his famous egg scene in "Rocky."

Creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg had filmed a scene in the second episode of season 4, where Macchio's co-star Johnny Lawrence makes him a pre-workout smoothie. Macchio noted the smoothie was disgusting.

"It was like if Johnny Lawrence grabbed everything in his fridge, whether it was expired or not, maybe threw in some protein that he heard about, and put it in the blender that was probably still rusty and mildewed," he explained, EW reported.

The 60-year-old actor further explained it was difficult to have that smoothie in one shot, and he kept thinking of Stallone's egg scene.

"I couldn't do it in one shot. I mean, I kept thinking of Stallone in the original Rocky film, taking the five eggs down. But I went for it — it just didn't make it into the episode."

"Cobra Kai" executive producer Josh Heald agreed with the actor's comments on the smoothie.

"It was supposed to be like vodka and eggs," Heald revealed. "Ralph had to drink it, and it took like an interminable amount of time for him to choke down whatever the heck the prop master made. It was like baby food in real life."

Season 4 of the series dropped on Netflix on Dec. 31.

In a recent interview, Tanner Buchanan, who plays the bad boy character named Robby Keene, revealed it was going to be the most "intense" season.

Buchanan had also teased at the time that some new characters will be introduced in the season, along with some old ones from the original franchise.

The newly dropped season revolves around all the three dojos competing in the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament. The stakes are higher, considering the fact that the main villain, John Kreese -- played by Martin Kove -- has announced he will leave Cobra Kai dojo if it loses the competition.

Besides "Cobra Kai," Macchio was previously featured in the TV series, "The Deuce" from 2017 to 2019.
