Arsenal continues to prowl for talent, and one name that has been linked to the Gunners is Cody Gakpo.

The Gunners have been known admirers of the 23-year-old Dutchman.

Arsenal allegedly sent over some scouts over the weekend to check how Gakpo performs on the field.

Seeing the potential in him, the Gunners are not the only team linked to the Dutch national team player.

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly in the mix, meaning the Gunners may be in for some stiff competition to get Gakpo to their side.

But if the recent revelation of Gakpo is to be considered, fans of Arsenal may be in for a disappointment.

Speaking to 90Min, Gakpo mentioned the five clubs he was interested in. Unfortunately, the Gunners were not among the teams mentioned by the Dutch footballer.

"I think at the end of this season I will be ready to take that step. I feel like I was already that way at the start of this season, but after this season I'm even more ready to take that next step," Gakpo stated.

"Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool–it would be an honor to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team would suit me best."

Although they were not mentioned among the potential stops, the door remains open for a potential Gakpo coming to the Emirates Stadium.

Some factors could come into play–particularly the money he stands to earn or perhaps the longevity of his tenure.

For now, the best the Gunners can do is to keep tabs and be among the linked teams considering Gakpo.

Given time, it cannot be discounted that the Dutchman could broaden that list of preferred destinations.

For now, the immediate goal for Mikel Arteta and company is winning the English Premier League title.

They are currently on a break due to the World Cup but hold a huge five-point gap over Manchester City.

"It's great to be where we are and we are enjoying that moment. Now, we have a big break and we have to reflect on what we're doing and be prepared for after the World Cup," Arteta stated.
