Colin Kaepernick Girlfriend? 49ers QB Denies Dating Soccer Player, ESPN 'Body Issue' Co-Star Sydney Leroux [PHOTOS]

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick denied rumors that he’s dating U.S. Olympic soccer player and fellow ESPN “Body Issue” star Sydney Leroux.

During an interview with reporters in the 49ers locker room Wednesday, Kaepernick was asked if Leroux was his girlfriend and if he had seen her four-goal performance in the U.S. women’s national soccer team’s victory over Mexico on Tuesday. Despite the buzz, Kaepernick shot down rumors that the pair were dating.

“Not my girlfriend,” Kaepernick told reporters, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “I didn’t see the game. I was working.”

Even if they aren’t dating, Kaepernick and the 23-year-old Leroux have already worked together professionally. They were both were featured in the ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue,” which displays top athletes in the nude.

Kaepernick’s alleged connection to Leroux also extends to the social media world. They follow each other on Twitter, and Leroux tweeted at Kaepernick as recently as last Saturday. In the tweet, Leroux taunted her rumored boyfriend as her alma mater, UCLA, was beating Kaepernick’s University of Nevada in this season’s opening football game. “Hey [Kaepernick]what’s the score of that UCLA Nevada game?” Leroux wrote.

Kaepernick and Leroux were first identified as boyfriend and girlfriend in July, when sports blog Terez Owens alleged that the pair were dating. According to the blog, the two athletes met at the 28^th Anniversary Sports Spectacular Gala in Los Angeles, and were “seeing each other on the regular since the night they were introduced.”

This isn’t the first time Leroux has been linked to an athletic boyfriend. In July, Yahoo Sports reported that she had ended her apparent engagement to Toronto Blue Jays third-baseman Brett Lawrie in order to focus on her soccer career.

Kaepernick has also dealt with his share of girlfriend rumors. In January, several prominent sports blogs claimed that the 49ers quarterback was dating up-and-coming model J. Marie.
