College Admissions Scandal Update: How Lori Loughlin's Daughters Reacted To Her Guilty Plea
KEY POINTS
- Olivia Jade and Bella Giannulli are worried about their parents serving their sentence behind bars
- Mossimo Giannulli and Lori Loughlin will plead guilty
- The couple allegedly paid $500,000 for their daughters' spot in USC
Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s daughters Olivia Jade and Bella are crushed because of their parents’ decision to enter a plea in the college admissions case.
“Olivia and Bella were devastated when Lori and Mossimo told them they were pleading guilty. The girls have been spending a lot of time at their parents’ house recently, and they are becoming much more of a tight-knit family,” an insider told Us Weekly.
“Under the plea agreements filed today, these defendants will serve prison terms reflecting their respective roles in a conspiracy to corrupt the college admissions process and which are consistent with prior sentences in this case,” U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling said, as reported by PageSix.
Loughlin’s daughters are glad that the drama will finally conclude, but this end to the drama brought new worries to them because they are scared that their mom will have to serve time in prison. As part of the plea deal, the “Full House” actress will be put behind bars for two months and pay a $150,000 fine.
The 55-year-old will also be on a two-year supervised release and must complete 100 hours of community service. Loughlin’s husband, meanwhile, will serve five months in jail and must pay a $250,000 fine. Giannulli will lend 250 hours for community service and just like his actress wife, he will be released under supervision for two years.
The high-profile couple starring in the college admissions scandal was supposed to face trial a few months from now after they were charged with paying half-a-million-dollars to ringleader Rick Singer so that their daughters can get into the University of Southern California. The mastermind asked the parents to send photos of Olivia Jade and Bella rowing so that he could falsify their profile and secure a spot in the prestigious school as rowing recruits.
Loughlin and Giannulli’s guilty plea came just two months after they were arrested. At the time, they were stern about fighting the accusations thrown against them.
They argued that they thought that the payment was a donation and not a bribe. Then, in April, photos of Olivia Jade and Bella, albeit their faces were blurred, on rowing machines circulated.
