College Admissions Scandal Update: Olivia Jade May Have To Make 'Hard' Decision Moving Forward
Lori Loughlin may be preparing for her upcoming trial for her alleged participation in the college admissions scam, but her daughter, Olivia Jade, has also reportedly faced her own unexpected difficulties surrounding the scandal.
In 2019, both Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were accused of paying William "Rick" Singer $500,000 so that their daughters, Olivia and Isabella Rose, could attend the University of Southern California (USC). Subsequently, the parents were each charged with mail and wire fraud, honest services mail and wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery.
Now, a new report has indicated that the popular 20-year-old YouTuber may be facing a private conflict when it comes to her return to the streaming platform.
According to Us Weekly, Olivia is "in a strange place right now" due to the fact that she can't explain her side of what has transpired as it could impact the case down the road. This, said a source, places her "between a rock and hard place" as she tries to regain control over her career.
This news follows Olivia's unexpected return to YouTube in December 2019. At that time, she posted a short clip, titled "hi again," where she briefly addressed what had been going on behind the scenes. However, it has been said that her decision to return to the site not only inspired backlash from the public, but also caused friction between her and Loughlin as the "Fuller House" star saw her daughter's return as a "big betrayal."
Some have also speculated that the aforementioned clip may have been scripted ahead of time due to the fact that some topics are off-limits.
At this time, it remains unclear whether Olivia or Isabella could be charged as defendants in the admissions scam, also known as "Operation Varsity Blues." However, some have speculated that the prosecution may consider using Loughlin's daughters "as star witnesses in hopes of securing a conviction."
