College Football Championship Odds 2022: Georgia, Alabama Favored; Ohio State, Clemson Top Contenders
Shortly after Georgia beat Alabama in Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game, the betting odds suggest the two teams will run it back next year. The SEC rivals have opened as co-favorites to win the 2022-2023 national title.
Georgia and Alabama both have 2/1 odds to become champions next season at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have faced off in two of the last five CFP National Championship Games.
Georgia scored 20 unanswered points in the fouth quarter to beat Alabama 33-18 and secure its first title in 41 years. The country’s top defense forced Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young to throw two interceptions and limited Alabama to 30 rushing yards on 28 attempts.
Young secured the Heisman Trophy by leading Alabama past Georgia in the SEC Championship Game in December. With the quarterback set to return for his junior season, the Crimson Tide could be the best team for the 2022 college football season.
Alabama has reached the national title game in six of the last seven years. The Crimson Tide have won three championships during that time, defeating Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State.
Ohio State and Clemson are the only other teams that are given a good chance to win the 2022-2023 title. The Buckeyes have 8/1 championship odds. The Tigers have 10/1 odds to win the CFP title game.
Ohio State completed an 11-2 season by defeating Utah in the Rose Bowl. Clemson missed the playoffs for the first time in seven years, going 10-3 and beating Iowa State in the Cheez-It Bowl.
Five other teams are tied for fifth with 40/1 title odds. Michigan is in that group after losing to Georgia in the CFP semifinals.
Cincinnati, which was defeated by Alabama in the semifinals, has 200/1 championship odds.
