Colorado Mother Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Drive Car Off A Cliff With Four Children
A woman in Colorado is in custody for threatening the lives of her four children and two dogs.
Police received a 911 call on March 30, requesting they immediately come to Colorado National Monument in Mesa County, Colorado. The call came from a 13-year-old boy who had jumped out of her mother’s moving car, telling the operator his parent “was trying to kill him.”
Jessica Dawn Garcia, 42, had allegedly tried to drive off a cliff in her car, with her four children and their two pet dogs in the vehicle.
After making the call, police were able to track Garcia’s Ford Fiesta. The car was facing the cliff and was 10 feet from the edge. Police also examined the area and found tire tracks from the car close to the descent, suggesting that “the car slammed on the brakes and slid forward.”
Garcia, without being asked, immediately addressed one of the officers that approached the car, saying that she "wasn't going to push them off." The officers then spoke with the children still in the car, with one of them saying that their mother “thought the earth was ‘corrupt’ and she wanted to make sure they could all ‘go home.'”
Police promptly arrested Garcia on four counts of attempted vehicular homicide and four counts of child abuse. She is currently being held on $5,000 bond and has her arraignment scheduled for April 16.
