Comedy Central Roseanne Barr Roast Reunites Actress With Ex-Husband, ‘Roseanne’ Cast
The "Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne" on August 12th will reportedly double as a "Roseanne" cast reunion.
On the Red Carpet reported that Sarah Chalke, Alicia Goranson and Michael Fishman-- who played the comedian's children on the series-- attended the pre-taped roast. Chalke and Goranson both portrayed her daughter Becky while Fishman played her son D.J. John Goodman, who played Roseanne's husband on the show, was not in attendance at the taping.
Tom Arnold, who has a role on the popular series and was once married to Barr, also turned up, according to an E! News report.
Barr was not expecting an appearance from her ex, who rattled off plenty of insults-but finished off with sentimental praise.
"In 1985, Roseanne went on Johnny Carson, which is every comic's dream back then," said Arnold. "She killed, he laughed his ass off, he gave her a thumbs up and he invited her to sit on his couch. She got validation from the king which can never be taken away from her."
And I just want to say, Roseanne, you were my Johnny Carson. And thank you for the thumbs up and thank you for inviting me to sit on your couch for a little bit."
"Roseanne" premiered in 1988 and remained on the air until 1997. The show was credited with being one of the first representations of a working class family.
Jane Lynch, Ellen Barkin, Wayne Brady, Carie Fisher, and Katey Sagal are also set to roast the outspoken, politically active TV star/Roastmaster Jane Lynch didn't pull any punches during the taped segment.
"I waved to you outside but then I realized it was just one of those inflatable parking lot gorillas," Lynch reportedly joked.
On Monday, Barr officially entered the U.S. presidential race after announcing her plans to run under the Peace and freedom Party along with running mate Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in the Iraq War.
