UFC's reality series "The Ultimate Fighter" (TUF) has produced a long list of notable talents since its inception in 200, and the fans are always eager to see the coaches fight it out in the finale.
In the 31st season of TUF, UFC president Dana White revealed that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will be the coaches.
TUF 31 will serve as Chandler's first stint as a coach on the show, while McGregor is no stranger to the show and its proceedings after being in the same role back in 2015 against Urijah Faber in season 22.
McGregor, then the interim featherweight champion, and Faber did not have a fight with one another as he had a mandatory featherweight title challenge against Jose Aldo.
"The Notorious" has not been seen inside the Octagon since bowing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
As for Chandler, he made his UFC debut against Dan Hooker and won the bout by first-round TKO in the co-main event of UFC 257 after spending the past 11 years in Bellator.
He has laid claim to the Bellator lightweight title thrice in his career and amassed a record of 18-5, which featured wins over the likes of Benson Henderson, Eddie Alvarez and Akihiro Gono.
Under the Las Vegas-based promotion's banner, "Iron Mike" is currently 2-3 with the three losses coming from Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier, but his stock among fans rose to extreme heights after pulling off a stunning front kick knockout of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.
Following the knockout, Chandler had an extremely passionate callout of Oliveira and Gaethje–the latter being a rematch of their extremely entertaining November 2021 fight which won Fight of the Year honors.
McGregor's name was also tossed in the hat by Chandler in the same callout, eyeing a 170-pound (UFC's welterweight division) bout with the Irishman.
While the UFC is yet to reveal what weight class they will be fighting at in the finale, McGregor has had a three-fight experience in the welterweight division against the likes of Nate Diaz (twice) and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
The show will air from May 30 to August 15 as revealed by White. Their fight date is yet to be confirmed.
