Conor McGregor's Acting Debut With Jake Gyllenhaal: Here’s Everything You Need To Know
UFC champion Conor McGregor is all set to make his acting debut in a movie on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. The movie will feature Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role.
The 34-year-old Irish mixed martial artist will appear in "Road House," which will be a remake of 1989's action thriller flick of the same name.
It has not been announced what role McGregor will be playing in the upcoming movie. Actors like Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, B.K. Cannon, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle and Bob Menery are also included in the cast members.
The flick is helmed by director Doug Liman, who is responsible for directing movies like "Edge Of Tomorrow," "American Made," "The Bourne Identity" and "Chaos Walking." It will be penned by writers Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
"Road House" will be produced under Silver Pictures production company, founded by producer Joel Silver. Whereas, J.J. Hook, Alison Winter and Aaron Auch will be the executive producers on the project.
McGregor's spokesperson Karen J. Kessler shared that McGregor "is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of 'Road House,' a beloved classic."
However, Kessler added that fighting will be McGregor's priority.
"While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire," Kessler told ESPN in an article published Wednesday. "He is eager to get started filming."
Considering McGregor's health after his fight with American mixed martial artist Dustin Poirier last year, he is still not completely recovered from a fractured leg. He got injured in July 2021 and he has not fought any matches since then.
On the personal front, McGregor shares three kids - Croia, Rían and Conor Jack - with his fiancée Dee Devlin. The couple has been together since 2008.
Gyllenhaal, on the other hand, will be next seen in the movie "The Interpreter," where he will portray Sergeant John Kinley's character. The flick is under post-production.
The 41-year-old actor will also lend his voice to an animated action movie, "Strange World," which is slated to release on Nov. 23 this year.
