Contact Lenses Recall 2020: Possible Health Threat Forces Recall
Just days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning about nine different hand sanitizers that contain methanol – a wood alcohol - the agency has now posted a recall for colored contact lens sold by Chengdu Ai Qin E-commerce Co., Ltd because they do have FDA approval and could pose a health threat to consumers.
A total of 1,362 pairs of colored contact lenses have been recalled under the TTDeye brand. The contact lenses were sold under the names Black Starshine, Diamond Starshine, Flower Brown, Flower Grey, Radial Brown, Radial Pink, and Devil Red.
The affected contact lenses have lot codes of B16112100, B16112210, B16112231, B16112109, B16112110, and B16112201. They were sold nationwide through the website www.ttdeye.com and shipped directly to consumers from Aug. 5, 2019 through Oct. 11, 2019.
The contact lenses were manufactured in August 2018 and have the date of manufacture listed at 2018-08 on the package label. Labels of the recalled contact lenses can be viewed here.
The FDA is urging consumers to immediately stop using the product.

Chengdu Ai Qin E-Commerce said it has not received any customer complaints about the recalled contact lenses to date.
