A Georgia man has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without a possibility of parole after he admitted to murdering two young women and recording himself violating one of the corpses.
Dennis Lane, 42, from Stockbridge was sentenced Tuesday after he admitted to murdering Conteshia McCoy, and 23-year-old Mirsha Victor at two separate instances in 2021.
An investigation revealed that Lane murdered 19-year-old McCoy sometime between Feb. 12, and April 3, 2021, and concealed her death. A few months after McCoy's death, Lane fatally shot Victor, his co-worker, at his home on July 8, 2021. Lane also recorded a video of himself committing necrophilia on her dead body. The bodies of both the victims were later recovered from the woods, reported Law & Crime.
The man pleaded guilty to multiple counts Tuesday, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, necrophilia, and tampering with evidence.
Lane was previously convicted for raping a 10-year-old girl in Illinois and moved into Georgia after he was released from jail.
Both the victims' mothers who testified in court said Lane wanted to marry their respective daughters and was stalking them. The victims' friends and family had asked for maximum sentences, Henry County prosecutors said.
"The crimes committed by this individual were heartless and vile. I am unable to comprehend this level of depravity and wickedness," Henry County District Attorney Darius Pattillo said.
"Despite the horror that this defendant brought to these innocent women, their families, and this community, I am pleased that he will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole," Pattillo added.
In connection with Victor's death, Lane's co-defendants, 41-year-old Cleounsee Fisher, and 40-year-old Ronisha Preckwinkle face pending charges, according to court records, CBS 46 reported.
Both Fisher and Preckwinkle have been accused of helping Lane cover up the murder and have been charged on counts of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, and tampering with evidence. According to reports, Fisher was also accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Wisconsin in 2015.
