Cops Find Remains Of Dead Infant Or Fetus In The Freezer Of Boston Apartment
The remains of what appeared to be a dead fetus or infant were found inside the freezer of a Massachusetts apartment. The police are looking into the "possible fetal remains" that were discovered Thursday in an apartment in South Boston.
Cops made the gory discovery at a condo building on East Broadway after a call came in for one of the residences to be investigated, according to Boston 25.
"At about 2:15 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 officers assigned to District 6 responded to a radio call to investigate a premise at 838 East Broadway in South Boston," the Boston Police Department said in a statement shared on Facebook.
"On arrival officers located what appears to be a human fetus or infant, Boston Police Homicide Detectives along with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office are investigating," the statement continued.
The police department said they are actively reviewing facts and circumstances to determine what led to the fetus or infant's remains being placed in the freezer.
The Suffolk District Attorney's office also confirmed that a "possible fetus or infant" was found in the freezer but did not reveal more details, Boston Herald reported.
Residents in the area gathered close to the scene as heavy police activity took place around the building and helicopters flew overhead.
Some said they were "disturbed" and "scared" by the discovery of the remains. "It's just really awful to think about and to know that that was right next door," a nearby resident Katie Reilly told 7NEWS.
Sources also claimed that it was a cleaning person who first found the fetus or infant's remains in the freezer, the outlet reported. Officials urged the public to come forward with information that could help with the investigation.
"Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470," the department added.
A similar incident was reported in February after a child's body was found in the freezer of a Las Vegas home. The remains were discovered after the boy's sister gave her school teacher a note reportedly written by her mother. The mother said in the note that her boyfriend was holding her against her will and she had no idea where her son was.
