Health officials in Missouri are taking action after a video of a packed pool party went viral over Memorial Day weekend. In an advisory issued by the St. Louis County Department of Health on Monday, the state urged anyone who visited the Ozarks regions over the holiday weekend to self-isolate for 14 days due to the possibility of contracting COVID-19.

In response, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the same advisory for its citizens.

“This reckless behavior endangers countless people and risks setting us back substantially from the progress we have made in slowing the spread of COVID-19,” St. Louis County Executive Sam Page said, expressing concern for returning party attendees potentially spreading the novel coronavirus as they return home.

Over the weekend, a video was posted to Twitter showing a pool party at a bar in Osage Beach, Missouri, which was packed with patrons failing to practice social distancing or wear proper protective equipment. While Missouri has lifted some of its lockdown protocols and allowed dine-in options at bars and restaurants, social distancing is still required.

Despite the bar checking temperatures and providing hand sanitizer, it was widely criticized for allowing so many attendees to attend its Memorial Day event as concerns over the coronavirus pandemic persist.

“When we walked up my first words were 'oh my gosh' it was intense for sure!!” one attendee told CNN. “Social distancing was nonexistent. However everyone was enjoying themselves. It was a very carefree environment but security was heavy!!”
