Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently flew to Europe to wrap up their final duties as senior members of the royal family. While the two of them looked stunning, there was noticeably something, or someone rather, missing -- their 10-month-old son Archie.

Following the events, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew back to reunite their family in Canada but the question remains, why wasn't Archie on the trip?

The reasoning is actually quite simple -- COVID-19 coronavirus.

The disease, which was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, has been a concern for countries across the globe.

According to the WHO, more than 132,000 people worldwide have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, with nearly 5,000 deaths reported. The U.S. has over 1,200 people that have tested positive for COVID-19, with 36 deaths reported, the agency said.

Despite the distance, they kept in touch with their growing baby boy the entire time they were away by "FaceTiming with him every day," a source shared with People.

"He’s doing great," the source said in reference to Archie. "He’s grabbing onto things and picking himself up. He’s starting to have movement, which is really exciting."

Meghan herself echoed that same sentiment while attending the Endeavour Fund Awards in London. The 38-year-old opened up about Archie to fellow attendee Claire Spencer, whose husband, Lee "Frank" Spencer, was nominated for an award at the event.

Afterward, Claire recalled the conversation with the Duchess of Sussex to Hello, stating, "She [Meghan] said 'Oh yes, well he is 10 months now and is into everything.'"
