The 22nd edition of Ultra Music Festival stands postponed this year because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The event was scheduled for March 20-22, 2020.

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that The City of Miami has issued an official directive requiring that the 22nd edition of Ultra Music Festival, originally scheduled for March 20, 21 and 22, 2020, will be postponed to March 26, 27 and 28, 2021. Due to the Florida Governor’s declaration of a public health emergency and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention’s Interim Guidance for COVID-19, it is impossible for the City to provide access to Bayfront Park at this time,” Team Ultra stated on their official website addressed to Ultranauts.

The three-day annual electronic and dance music festival was expected to be attended by people from across the world, and that was a matter of concern for Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. In a press conference on March 2, he spoke about the preparation to tackle coronavirus in Miami. He stated that the city administrators asked Ultra Music Festival’s organizers to update the security and safety plan to counter any coronavirus threat, Miami Herald reported.

At the time, the mayor mentioned that it was too early to state if the event will be canceled, but the spread of coronavirus could make it urgent in the coming days. He said that they are monitoring the situation daily.

“Right now, we don’t have any cases in the city or in the county, but what makes Ultra different is that it is an event that brings people from across the world,” the mayor said.

However, now the event is called off as the Center for Disease Control confirmed two cases of coronavirus in Florida.

The Ultra Music Festival 2020 lineup featured acts like Major Lazer, Kygo, KSHMR presents Dharma, Above & Beyond, Fedde Le Grand, DJ Snake, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, The Return of Dash Berlin, Young Bombs and many more. The official statement has mentioned that all ticket purchasers will be contacted via email regarding the next steps.
