According to a report on Express, COVID-19, the primary risk factor that health experts have been looking at was age. Dr. Neil Rau, an infectious disease specialist, said that if you are young and healthy, then you are not likely to get so sick to the extent that you would die from the virus.

Dr. Rau also added other health risk factors that put one at risk. He mentioned that those who have underlying conditions like heart and lung disease, as well as obesity, are prone to developing complications that could arise from an infection of COVID-19.

With a flu virus like the coronavirus, the lungs can become very affected, as per Dr. Rau, which could result in the lungs getting filled with water. The exchange of air or oxygen from the lungs into the blood is harmed.

As per the result of the study conducted out by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, older people who already have preexisting health issues are the ones who are most likely to suffer much from the disease. They analyzed the 44,000 cases in Wuhan, and they found that around 80% of the total number was classified as mild.

They also noted that the death rate among the elderly was ten times higher compared to those belonging in the middle age. Those who were under 30 showed the lowest death rate. As for medical conditions, which increased the risk, they noted diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and cherubic respiratory disease.

While there is still no definite cure for coronavirus, it is advised by health experts to keep yourself healthy. Strengthen your immune system and afford due protection against possible infection.
