Cory Monteith Autopsy: ‘Glee’ Star’s Cause Of Death Will Reportedly Be Revealed In ‘2 Or 3 Days’

Speculation surrounding Cory Monteith’s cause of death will be put to rest this week. Following the “Glee” star’s sudden death on Saturday, July 13, an autopsy is scheduled to take place on Monday.

A source within the Vancouver Police Department told E! Online that Monteith’s autopsy has been “expedited,” with results coming out early this week.

“Due to the intense public interest, the toxicology will be expedited,” explained the insider, who dished that fans could know Monteith’s cause of death in as little as “two or three days.”

As previously reported, the actor was found unconscious in his 21st-floor hotel room after missing his check out time on Saturday. According to CNN, Monteith did not have people to his room on Friday night, and hotel surveillance cameras show him returning to his room alone early the next morning.

A cause of death was not apparent, but Vancouver police say that there were no indications of foul play. The authorities would not comment on any items found within Montieth’s hotel room at the time of his death.

The actor’s publicist, Melissa Kates, released a statement over the weekend confirming his death: “We are saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”

The producers of “Glee,” in which the 31-year-old played Finn Hudson, released their own statement following his death:

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”

Monteith had a history of batting substance abuse, first checking into rehab at the age of 19. Earlier this year the actor, with the support of his girlfriend and costar Lea Michele, checked himself into rehab for substance addiction. He left the facility in late April.

Lea Michele’s rep released their own statement on Cory Monteith’s death, asking that “everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.”
