Could ‘Fuller House’ Season 3 Feature The Original ‘Full House’ Home? Show Creator Buys Landmark
The second season of “Fuller House” may have finished filming, but there may be some new surprises in store for viewers of the Netflix series.
The original San Francisco house from “Full House” is now back in the possession of TV producer Jeff Franklin, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Franklin, who created the long-running series, purchased the home for around $4 million.
Although “Fuller House” has yet to be renewed for a third season, Franklin would love to use the house for future episodes. “We would take advantage of the fact that I now own the house, and we could go up there and shoot some new footage and maybe bring the cast up and shoot with them up there,” he said.
Franklin said when the house went on the market, he knew he had to have it. “The house came on the market and really, I just thought, I have to buy this house. I’m so sentimental about the house. It’s great to have the house in our ‘Full House’ family and be able to preserve it for the fans… Seriously, I love owning this house.”
As the new owner of the house, Franklin’s first renovation task was to change the doors back to their iconic red color after the previous owners painted the doors seafoam green. According to Franklin, this small change is sure to please “Full House” fans who still visit the home for photo-ops.
“There are probably 250 fans per day that show up and take a picture in front of it,” Franklin said. “It will be a lot more fun for the fans because now the house will look like the Tanners really live there. It's a gift to the fans but it's also fun for me to own it.”
While Franklin waits for news of a Season 3 renewal from Netflix, the producer said he is willing to rent out the space. “It's a shame to let it sit empty," he said. “I will be renting it out but I'm not sure yet what, where, when or how. At some point soon I will figure that out.”
In a February interview with Variety, Franklin revealed that a “Full House” spinoff was in the making for more than five years but he had trouble finding a home for the show. “For some reason, a whole bunch of networks didn’t understand the hunger that was out there for this show. It was baffling me. Netflix finally stepped up, and that’s why it’s happening now. It could have happened seven years or eight years ago, but it didn’t.”
Season 2 of “Fuller House” will be released on Dec. 9.
