Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s letter to four British tabloids was the topic of discussion on Wednesday’s episode of "The Talk@Home." Co-host Sharon Osbourne spearheaded the conversation stating that she feels the Duke and Duchess of Sussex mishandled the situation.

Osbourne pointed out that one of the flaws in the matter was their decision to make the announcement amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I'm a bit confused about this,” she stated. “Firstly, I think the timing is really, you know, terrible to do something like this.”

As previously reported, Meghan and Harry sent a letter out to The Sun, Daily Express, Daily Mirror and Daily Mail on Sunday night. In the letter, the couple promised to never work with those outlets again or allow them access to their events in the future due to their reporting practices. Osbourne felt the couple could have just cut ties with the outlets without releasing a statement.

“And the thing is, cut yourself off, you can cut yourself off without sending a letter,” the wife of Ozzy Osbourne continued. “You refuse all interviews. It's an easy thing to do, but you can never stop the pap selling pictures to papers. That's the way the world works these days regarding the press.”

She further implied the ill timing of the letter by mentioning the couple recently being spotted doing community service.

“So, they can't do that, but just when they were really nice, low-key doing their thing, doing their charitable work, and then they go and send a letter like the one they sent,” Osbourne explained. “I'm like, I just don't get why they needed to be so public about it. Just do it. Just tell your publicist or all the people around you, your staff, that you won't have anything to do with them. It's simple that way...I get their frustration..but it would have been better to say nothing and carry on."

Sheryl Underwood also chimed in on the matter regarding the couple’s community service.

“Instead of them talking about that, they’re doing some great community service out here in Los Angeles,” Underwood added. “Let’s talk about that that you’re doing...I thought it was kind of unusual for them to even address them that way.”

As previously reported, Piers Morgan, who was formerly the editor of The Sun and Daily Mirror, took a few jabs at the couple on Twitter for issuing the statement during the coronavirus pandemic, as well.

He tweeted: “Imagine announcing this in the middle of a global pandemic?

Imagine thinking anyone cares about their hurt little me-me-me egos as health workers around the world are dying at work? What a pair of repulsive, deluded narcissistic tools.”

Meghan is suing Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, over the publication of a handwritten letter she sent to her father, Thomas Markle. The lawsuit is for breach of copyright, infringement of her privacy and breaches of the Data Protection Act.
