Following a two-month courtship “Counting On,” star Justin Duggar is engaged to Claire Spivey. The couple announced their engagement on Monday, one day after the 18-year-old proposed to Claire while celebrating his birthday.

“There is nothing comparable to finding the one you are meant to spend your life with,” the couple said in a statement to Us Weekly.

“We know we have found that in each other. We cannot wait to be married and are looking forward to a life together of faith in Christ, love for one another, and happiness!”

The engagement news was also shared on TLC’s Instagram. However, some fans weren’t in a celebratory mood and instead felt the couple was “too young” to get married.

“This is way too young, and I feel like they think this is the only way out to get married... but that’s the way they do things,” one person wrote in the comment section of the post.

Another person added, “So young to get married. I guess they have no choice since they can only [have a] courtship. They can’t even kiss let alone, be alone. It’s 2020!!!! What Jim Bob and Michelle are doing to the kids is wrong. I think Jim Bob and Michelle did not have a courtship!!!”

Meanwhile, one fan insisted that Claire, 19, and Justin were old enough for marriage because the devout independent baptists have been raised in a unique way.

“They live different than most. They get married young and have lots of kids, okay, they also take marriage seriously, most of them know how to do more stuff than most ppl twice their age (fix houses, fly airplanes, work as EMS, etc etc). Jeez, everyone is such a hater,” the individual wrote.

Justin and Claire’s courtship is expected to be featured on the upcoming season of “Counting On.”
