Jinger Duggar is opening up about the devastating miscarriage she and husband Jeremy Vuolo suffered last fall in the new episode of “Counting On.”
Jinger and her husband shared details about their loss in a short preview for the Aug. 18 episode of the TLC series. The video shows the moment the 26-year-old tells her family the good news – that she had a bun in the oven. However, Jinger began feeling unwell shortly after the big announcement.
“Recently we had announced to my family the news that we were expecting,” Jinger explained.
“That night, I started having some concerning signs,” she recalled. “During the middle of the night, I started waking up and having more and more spotting and it was not normal.”
This prompted Jinger and her husband to call a doctor. She said, however, that “they tried to check for a heartbeat, but they couldn’t find one.”
After doing an ultrasound, it was confirmed that Jinger had lost the baby. Vuolo admitted that it had been difficult for them as they had just informed their families of the pregnancy news before the tragic loss.
“It was sudden, and we had just announced to our family and it hit us hard,” Vuolo confessed.
Jinger previously talked about how they coped after the miscarriage, expressing her gratitude for the support she had been receiving from their family and friends. She also said praying had been a huge part of how she got through those times.
“It was such a hard time, but Jer just really supported me, and it was just such a tremendous blessing to have many people who loved on us in that difficulty,” Duggar said.
Months after the miscarriage, the couple announced that they were expecting another bundle of joy.
“Felicity is going to have to have a sister. Everything looks great with the baby,” Duggar told People in May. “We're so thankful. Had a lot of check-ups and we’re just really, really excited.”
