Turkey's flagship carrier, Turkish Airlines, has resumed flights to Libya's capital, almost 10 years after they were suspended over security concerns in the conflict-torn country.

Telephone and internet links were severed Tuesday to Libya's flood-hit city of Derna, a day after hundreds protested there against local authorities they blamed for the thousands of deaths.

A crew of North Korean medical workers recently deployed in Libya also previously worked in the country before the civil war started in 2014.

The boat was carrying migrants who were trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe.
