Couple Kidnaps Pregnant Woman, Cuts Open Womb To Steal Her Unborn Baby
A pregnant woman in Mexico was been kidnapped and murdered by a couple who wanted her unborn baby. The infant who miraculously survived the gruesome attack was recovered alive, reports said.
The victim, 20-year-old Rosa Isela Castro Vazquez from Mexico's eastern state of Veracruz was eight months pregnant and reportedly last seen alive on Nov. 30 when she was going to meet a woman she had interacted with online. The woman allegedly promised to give Vazquez hand-me-down baby clothes and lured her to a nearby pharmacy, NY Post reported.
The investigation began after Vazquez's husband alerted the cops about her missing. While reviewing the surveillance footage of the neighborhood, cops saw the expecting mother meeting the suspect outside the pharmacy and getting escorted into a vehicle, reports said.
Police recovered the pregnant woman's body on Dec. 3 during a raid on a ranch with her womb cut open, and the child missing, People reported.
Meanwhile, investigators received reports about a woman identified as Veronica "N" who brought a newborn to the Veracruz Regional Hospital but could not prove the baby was her own.
Police arrested Veronica and her partner Gonzalo "N" as alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping. Cops rescued the infant who was found with them during the arrest.
The couple reportedly abducted the victim and cut her womb to get the unborn fetus because they were unable to have children themselves, reports said.
The duo appeared in court Monday on charges of kidnapping and femicide.
In a similar incident last month, a Texas woman was sentenced to death for killing a pregnant friend and removing her unborn daughter out of her womb. Taylor Parker, 29, was sentenced to capital murder for killing Reagan Simmons-Hancock, 21, and stealing her unborn baby. The fetus was ripped out from the mother's womb and did not survive. The victim's three-year-old daughter was also reportedly at home when the horrifying crime was committed. Investigators determined that Parker pretended to be pregnant to keep her boyfriend and killed Simmons-Hancock to get a child to support her claim.
