Courtney Clenney Trial Update: Texts Show Influencer Had Previous Incidents Of Stabbing Boyfriend
Social media model Courtney Clenney received text messages from her boyfriend Christian Obumseli that revealed she stabbed him in the leg months before his death.
Clenney, 26, an influencer on Instagram and OnlyFans, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in the killing of 27-year-old Obumseli, who was fatally stabbed on April 3. Clenney said she acted in self-defense during an argument with Obumseli at their apartment.
The case has drawn increased media attention due to Clenney's social media status. Miami-Dade prosecutors said Clenney and Obumseli had been "involved in an extremely tempestuous and combative relationship."
The Miami-Dade State Attorney's office also shared photographs Clenney's mother took of her bruised body following Obumseli's death, after a records request by local news NBC 6 in South Florida.
Obumseli's text read: "This crazy thing about all of this is that yesterday when you [expletive] stabbed me in the [expletive] leg, and you saw how [expletive] bad it was hurting me, and I couldn't [expletive] walk, I couldn't do [expletive,] and you were telling me I wish I could take your pain away, I wish it was me and not you."
The photos Clenney's mother shared with prosecutors show Clenney covered in bruises following Obumseli's fatal stabbing.
The new evidence comes after the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office released recordings taken by Obumseli that show Clenney shouting racial epithets and physically attacking him multiple times last week.
The attorney's office also shared crime-scene photos showing a bloody and chaotic scene in the couple's luxury apartment.
"Is love going to kill me?" Obumseli said in text messages to Clenney obtained by the Tampa Bay Times. "February was the worst month I had so far. I got cheated on. I got called that word again. I got slapped in my stitches that have reopened multiple times, and it's not healing fast enough."
Clenney allegedly stabbed Obumseli just below the neck with a kitchen knife, hitting the main artery.
Prosecutors have accused Clenney of giving conflicting accounts directly following the incident.
She had told police that she threw the knife more than 10 feet after he choked her.
A medical examiner testified that forensic evidence did not support her claim, saying Clenney had no visible injuries, and Obumseli's wound was likely caused by the "downward strike" of a knife.
Clenney, who uses the online name Courtney Tailor, has more than 2 million followers on Instagram and a large audience on the subscription-only site OnlyFans, where she reportedly posted nude images of herself.
