KEY POINTS

  • George Stephanopoulos, GMA co-host, last week admitted to being COVID-19 positive
  • He was seen walking along East Hamptons Lanes with his mask hanging around his neck
  • Neighbors have already complained about him not following social distancing guidelines

George Stephanopoulos, former White House Communications Director, has previously disclosed on ABC’s Good Morning America that he has tested positive for COVID-19. His wife had contracted the virus days before his infection. During the time he admitted his wife had coronavirus, he was often seen in public, much to the chagrin of Hampton residents. Now, after disclosing that he had tested positive for coronavirus infection, he was seen casually strolling in East Hamptons with mask down.

Mask Required

According to reports, the 59-year-old co-anchor of Good Morning America (GMA) has already been the subject of a complaint by one of his neighbors in the Hamptons. The neighbor has complained that Stephanopoulos was not properly observing social distancing policies.

Another policy that must be observed by residents of East Hampton is the mandatory wearing of masks. The East Hampton website stated that it is required for those living or working in the area, or even if you are just passing through, to wear masks in public. This mandate was already in place even before Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order on April 17, requiring everyone to wear face coverings.

Disregarding The Mandate

The pale-looking Stephanopoulos was seen Monday afternoon by The Post, taking a leisurely walk in East Hampton reportedly having a long phone conversation with his mask hanging on his neck. The Post managed to interview a visibly outraged witness.

The witness said Stephanopoulos, who admitted to testing positive for coronavirus last week, was seen leaving his home in Hamptons in a pair of shorts. The witness told The Post that he walked for approximately one mile along East Hampton lanes. His mask, according to the witness, was down the whole time.

On Caring And Being Responsible

The unnamed witness also said that for a person reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic every day and announcing safe social distancing guidelines, he should also be responsible, The Post reported. For the witness, Stephanopoulos did not really appear to care.

According to The Post, the unnamed witness was visibly irked at the fact that the 59-year-old former White House Communications Director was COVID-19 positive yet allowed to roam freely. “He tested positive, his wife tested positive, why can’t he follow the local mandates to wear a mask in public, why can’t he just stay home?” asked the angry witness. She also said that Stephanopoulos was by himself and walking through the lanes, passing by East Hampton Guild Hall, all the time talking to his phone with mask down.
