KEY POINTS

  • "Crash Bandicoot" has finally launched its own mobile game
  • However, "Crash Bandicoot Mobile" is currently available only on select regions
  • King is yet to announce the full rollout schedule of the game

“Crash Bandicoot” quite literally crashed into the mobile gaming scene with a soft release in select regions.

The new “Crash Bandicoot Mobile” was teased last February through a set of Facebook ads. Now, according to reports, it has finally arrived on Google Play Store and available to play on Android devices.

As mentioned, however, it is only downloadable for players on select regions. The game’s developer, King, did not make an official announcement on which regions are part of the soft launch, but fans can check Google Play Store to determine if it is available in their respective areas.

“Crash Bandicoot Mobile” is said to be a Temple Run-type of game, which means players will run endlessly while collecting apples and avoiding traps which were all seen in the previous iteration of the game for other platforms.

On its listing in Google Play Store, King emphasized that the new game has “awesome battle runs” – during which players try to find and defeat Dr. Cortex’s minions. Classic enemies and bosses such as Mutagen Ant, Scorporilla, Nitrus Brio and Dingodile are also present in the game.

Moreover, there are hidden paths and tracks in the game, which will allow players to take on exclusive challenges and rewards.

“In this new mobile episode, Dr. Neo Cortex has dispatched mutagen henchmen across the multiverse to enslave all dimensions. With the help of his sister Coco, Crash must bash Cortex's minions back to their own dimensions!” King wrote on the game’s description.

It remains to be seen when the game will get a full launch; however, a soft release is a common move for developers in order to fix bugs and test server capacity – much like a public test.

As for “Crash Bandicoot Mobile,” the game clearly has some bugs that need fixing. In the review section of its Google Play listing, some players complained about the game crashing and freezing, particularly after the tutorial.

Some players also complained about textures not loading properly and some screen flickers, all of which are common issues for a game in soft launch.

These problems, nonetheless, are expected to be fixed before King implements a full rollout of “Crash Bandicoot Mobile.”
