A crew member who was working on the Anne Hathaway movie "The Witches" was stabbed during an on-set confrontation on Wednesday with a coworker. A disagreement between two stagehands allegedly escalated around noon, leading to the confrontation. E! News reports that the incident occurred on a stage at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire in England.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed this news to the Hertfordshire Mercury newspaper as they reported that a "knife-related incident" had transpired.

A police spokesperson informed the newspaper that one man, reported to be in his 40s, had "sustained a neck injury and was taken to a hospital by ambulance." The second man involved, a 54-year-old, was subsequently arrested at the scene by the local police on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

"I couldn't believe I was there for it. It's not something you expect to be close to. I heard the argument, but couldn't make out what they were saying. They were shouting," an eyewitness told The Sun. "As I left the studio and got round the corner, studio security went flying around with flashing lights. When I asked my pal what was going on, he said after I left one got stabbed in the neck with a flip knife - like a work one, from his tool belt."

The two men involved are believed to have known each other before the incident took place, but at this time, the rest of the circumstances revolving around what happened are still being established. It remains unclear if the "Les Misérables" star was present when the attack took place. As reported by the Daily Mail, the victim sustained a small laceration to the neck. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was released later that evening after receiving treatment.

"The Witches" film, which is based on the 1983 Roald Dahl classic children's novel, is set to star Hathaway, Chris Rock, and Octavia Spencer. It is slated to be released in October 2020.
