KEY POINTS

  • Ronaldo reached the milestone Sunday against Fiorentina
  • He now has scored 50 goals for Juventus
  • Juventus are currently table-toppers with 54 points in Serie A

Cristiano Ronaldo secured a special record as a Juventus player during his side’s 3-0 win over Fiorentina Sunday.

The Portuguese superstar converted two penalties and took his tally to 10 goals in the previous six matches. Ronaldo now has scored in nine successive Serie A games for Juventus, becoming the first player to do so since David Trezeguet in December 2005.

Overall, Ronaldo has netted 50 goals in 70 appearances for Juventus since moving to Italy from Real Madrid ahead of the 2018-19 season.

In Juve's 3-0 victory, apart from Ronaldo, the other scorer was Matthijs de Ligt, who headed their third goal in injury time. The triumph meant, reigning champions Juventus – with 54 points from 22 matches – are three points clear of the second-placed Inter Milan on the top of the Serie A table.

On the list of players with most goals in the going Serie A edition, Ronaldo is currently in the second spot behind Lazio’s Ciro Immobile and also has two assists in his account.

“Good to get back to victories and happy to score again in our stadium! Proud to reach 50 goals,” Ronaldo wrote on his official Twitter account.

While Ronaldo and Juventus’ next assignment is their away match in Hellas Verona, they also have their Champions League Round of 16 clashes against Lyon coming soon. The Italian giants have not won the Champions League title since 1996. While they have only two titles under their belt, Ronaldo alone has won five titles (one with Manchester United and four with Real Madrid).

Recently, Ronaldo hit 200 million Instagram followers and now he has more followers than Real Madrid and FC Barcelona combined which reportedly has "undoubtedly increased Juventus' commercial appeal."
