KEY POINTS

  • Al-Nassr thrashed Al-Wehda 4-0 on Thursday
  • All the goals were scored by Ronaldo
  • Al-Nassr have 37 points from 16 games in the league

Cristiano Ronaldo netted four goals Thursday for his new club Al-Nassr in a Saudi Pro League fixture.

Ronaldo was the sole scorer in Al-Nassr's superb 4-0 win over Al-Wehda that took the Mrsool Park side to the top of the Saudi Pro League table with 37 points. They still have a game in hand.

The former Manchester United star also completed 500 career league goals. The first of the four goals at King Abdul Aziz Stadium brought up the milestone for 38-year-old Ronaldo. Out of the four goals, Ronaldo scored the third one from the spot.

"I'm really happy for the goals I scored today, but what made me happier is being able to help my team-mates to win this game," Ronaldo said in a post-match interview, reported Goal.com.

Ronaldo took to social media and expressed it was a "great feeling" to score four times and hit 500 goals after Al-Nassr's important win.

"Great feeling to have scored 4 goals and reaching my 500th league goal in a very solid win by the team," Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram post.

Without any doubt, the latest outing against Al-Wehda was Ronaldo's best performance for his new club. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had only scored once before for the Saudi Arabian club.

Ronaldo's debut for Al-Nassr came in a Saudi Pro League match against Ettifaq FC last month. He has scored five goals in five matches for Al-Nassr in all competitions this season.

The Portuguese player parted ways with Manchester United on mutual consent last year. By agreeing to a two-year contract with Al-Nassr, Ronaldo also exited from European soccer. The two-year deal is reportedly worth $214 million per year, making Ronaldo the highest-paid athlete in the world.

However, his Al-Nassr boss Rudi Garcia recently admitted that he does not believe Ronaldo would end his career in Saudi Arabia.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is a positive addition, as he helps to disperse defenders. He is one of the best players in the world. He will not finish his career at Al-Nassr, he will return to Europe," Garcia said in an interview.
