Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi: English Club Star Reveals His Pick In GOAT Debate

An English club star put God-gifted Lionel Messi over hardworking Cristiano Ronaldo in greatest of all time talks.

Almost every soccer player from different leagues across the globe admits Ronaldo and Messi are still the two best players in the world today. However, who the better player is between the two is still a debate that has been going on for years.

Bristol City’s Benik Afobe is one of the most recent soccer stars who joined the Ronaldo vs. Messi GOAT debate. During a Q&A session on the club's official social media account Afobe revealed his admiration for Ronaldo but also explained why he still thinks six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi is better than the Portuguese star.

The 27-year-old soccer sensation said that his favorite between the two is Ronaldo, simply because of what he has heard about the legend’s unmatched work ethic. However, Afobe then admitted that Messi is better because of his “God-given talent” which made him above everybody else.

"Ronaldo or Messi? I prefer Ronaldo but Messi is better. I say Ronaldo because he's work so hard, and he is a man of stories. We hear about him being the first person in the training and the last person out, he's got himself the self-belief that he is the best even before he showed that he is the best. He is done it in Spain, Italy and in the Premier League, he is all round,” Afobe said.

“Of God given natural talent, I think Messi is class above everyone. He is just amazing to watch. They are about world class players and definitely the best two that's ever lived,” he added.

Currently, Afobe is on a season-long loan from Stoke City, but a knee injury he suffered during a training session last September has taken him out of action for the Robins.

Afobe’s comments resemble exactly what the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic once said about Ronaldo and Messi.

According to the Sweden captain, Ronaldo is an extremely hardworking player and he deserves all the credit he has been receiving thus far. However, Messi is just a unique player who has developed a love for his homeland. But being a world-class player himself, Ibrahimovic teased that the better player between him, Ronaldo and Messi will only be revealed when the bitter rivals reach his age.

"I admire Cristiano (Ronaldo), he works very hard and has played everywhere . About Leo, what to say? He has a unique talent,” Ibrahimovic said.
