Sunbeam Products is recalling nearly 1 million of its Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers due to burn risks, according to reports.

The affected Crock-Pots, manufactured between July 2017 and October 2018, have the model number SCCPPC600-V1 visible on its bottom. The recalled units were sold at Amazon, Target and Walmart, both online and in-store, from July 2017 through November 2020, and cost between $70 and $100. Their date codes -- K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN -- are engraved on one electrical-plug prong. Approximately 942,000 of units were sold in the U.S.

Other products from Sunbeam are safe to use, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement released Tuesday.

Roughly 100 consumers reportedly suffered first- to third-degree burns from hot food and liquid after the multi-cookers' lids blew off. Sunbeam said it received 199 reports of lids detaching, CBS News reported.

"The recalled Crock-Pot multi-cooker can pressurize when the lid is not fully locked. This can cause the lid to suddenly detach while the product is in use, posing burn risks to consumers from hot food and liquids ejected from the product," the CPSC said.

Sunbeam advised against using the recalled crock-pots in pressure-cooker mode. However, the company said the units are safe for slow cooking and sautéing.

When using the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, customers are advised to align the arrow found on the lid with the lock symbol in order to secure it fully. However, owners of the recalled products can contact Crock-Pot to obtain a free replacement.
