'Cube Escape: The Cave' Walkthrough: Cheats & Hints For All Parts Of New Rusty Lake Game
Started playing the latest Rusty Lake installment, Cube Escape: The Cave but some of the puzzles have you stumped? Check out our walkthrough of cheats and hints to make it through all parts of the cave, submarine and beyond.
On Friday, LoyaltyGame BV devs released their latest installment of Rusty Lake creepiness titled Cube Escape: The Cave. For those who have played other games in the Rusty Lake series, you’ll immediately recognize the eerie artwork, creepy storyline and brain bending puzzles, which are hallmark to the series present in this latest offering as well.
I played and fell in love with my first Rusty Lake game, Roots last fall and have since been anxiously awaiting the next. Whether you are Rusty Lake, or are an old time follower, the developers never cease to bring puzzles that will at some point have you pulling your hair out. If you’ve started playing Cube Escape: The Cave and are at that hair-tearing phase, we’ve put together a guided walkthrough with cheats and hints for every level or part of the game.
We haven’t totally unlocked every level yet, but as we solve various puzzles we’ll continue adding to this guide. In an effort not to spoil the whole game for you, we’ve made our walkthrough slightly vague. Below you’ll find steps but not necessarily complete solutions for every puzzle so you’ll still have the joy of figuring them out for yourself. Cube Escape: The Cave Cheats & Hints Walkthrough - Part 1 (Enter The Cave)
- Get Tools - In the first room open the dresser drawers and take the matches and knives. Grab the petri dish on top.
- Light The Wick - Turn right and use the matches to light the wick by a crack in the wall. You will see a bat, which is important later.
- Make Bird Statue - Zoom back out. Just above the scuba diver on the floor is a ledge. Tap on it. Here are stalactites with dripping water and a picture on the wall. Get drips from the stalactites of the right color to make the pattern drawn on the wall. If you make a mistake, you can remove a color by grabbing a drip from the stalactite to the far right. One you have the colors in the right order it’ll make a bird statue. Leave that for now.
- Get More Tools - Zoom back out and go to the right. Grab the firewood on the floor. Move right again to see a room with a microscope. Grab the pot off the shelf.
- Free The Bugs -- Unlock the tall chest by swiping the locks to far right (it takes to swipes). It will open and you will see a spider and a bug. Tap on a spider web strand to try to keep the spider from reaching the bug. If you do it right, the bug will escape. You will do this same kind of puzzle three more times. When finished, you’ll unlock a book wrapped in spider web. Put book on book on the stand next to the dog. You’ll come back to it in a minute.
- Unlock Desk, Get Pick Axe - Explore all the rooms. You’ll notice bugs on the wall. Tap them to see what shape they move in. This shape will correspond with their color. Use these shape/colors to unlock the combination on the desk where the microscope is. Once the desk is open, take out the pickaxe. Go back to the bird statue you made. Crush it and reveal a bottle of water
- Light First Door Light - Go back to the book and arrange the family members on the right first page, according to their silhouettes – Laura should be at the top. Tap on her, and a card will unfold. Take the card and place it on top of the drawn picture of him on the left hand page of the book. A pattern will soon be drawn on the page in red. You will draw this same pattern in the puzzle squares on the metal to light up the first light on the metal door.
- Leave the door and go back to faint drawings on the wall above the dog. You will see one is lit up. It has shapes on a shelf. Take the half circle and join it with the other half circle on the pedestal. They combine and make a new shape. Keep putting pieces together until you’ve finished them all. The final shape will turn into a bottle. Drag the bottle to the old guy’s hand and tap on him. Keep tapping and he’ll drink it, fall down dead and comes back to life as a woman (Laura). She changes to a silhouette and a cube hovers over her with all the parts used. A second bottle appears on the pedestal. Drag it to the other guy. He’ll turn into a crow and a moth will appear. Grab the moth.
- Turn On Second Light - Feed the moth to the bat and reveal a picture of a dude. Grab it and put it in the book on the second page to reveal another pattern. Use it at the metal door to turn on the second light.
- On the lit photo you’ll see a diver over a maze. There are shadowy creatures at the bottom to which different paths lead. Tap on the diver and a man will come down in an elevator. You need to get the man to walk past all these dark creatures. To do it, tap on the black square whose path ends at the first shadowed creature. The diver will move to this spot. Now tap to the right of the first creature to move the man past it. Keep doing the same thing with the diver and man until he gets past all the creatures. Once the man reaches the box and enters, crack in the wall will appear.
- Use the pickaxe to hit at the crack a few times and an arm will plop out (Sorry, all this next part is pretty gross…). Use the knife to cut on top off the arm. Keep cutting until the arm comes off and you can take it with you.
- Grind the hand into dog food using the grinder on the wall near the microscope. Feed it to Fido. He will defecate. Pick up the poo and examine it on the microscope. A pattern will appear.
- This is the beginning of a series of puzzles you have to unravel. Basically you need to move those green bacteria around so that none of the lines cross each other. When you have it right, all the lines will turn black. You’ll have to solve a few of these. I captured a couple of the solutions with my screen shot but not all of them (see below). Once they are all unlocked you’ll have a finished green elixir.
- Stick the bottle of water on the plate beside the microscope and put the elixir inside to make a new mix. Give it to the man in the picture above the microscope. Tap on him till he drinks, disappears and out comes the crow. A crack in the wall will appear.
- Use your pickaxe on the crack to reveal the next card for the book. Use it to reveal your next metal door pattern.
- Turn on Third Light – use the new pattern from the book to turn on the third light and reveal the third wall puzzle.
- The new puzzle is a picture of floating fish, shapes and what looks like a square jar with a man’s silhouette inside.
- Look at what shape all the fish are pointing towards and tap it (the first is a black square). They will change directions. Keep tapping on whatever shape they point towards. When you’ve done them all, a new crack in the wall is revealed. Use your pickaxe to remove ore.
- Melt the ore, cast key, unlock drawer - Go to the room with the scuba diver. Stick wood in the metal thing on the floor and light it with the matches. Stick the hanging pot on top. Place the ore inside of it. It will turn to melted metal. Take it and pour it into the box on the microscope table to cast a key. Grab the key and use it to open the locked drawer beside the dog.
- Save the scuba diver - Get the duct tape out of the drawer and use it to patch the scuba diver’s breathing machine.
- Turn the breathing machine handle three or four times, then tap on the helmet to wake the man up. He will ask for the extract. Give it to him.
- He will make a longish speech and then produce a box. Open it and you’ll get a diamond and a card with Laura’s picture.
- Turn On The Last Light - Place the picture of Laura on the right page in the book to revel the next pattern. Use it to unlock the last light.
- On the last puzzle revealed, you’ll notice a circle with a red and green arrow pointing to part of the circle. Note where they are pointing because you’ll use it in the next section.
Cube Escape: The Cave Cheats & Hints Walkthrough - Part 2 (The Submarine)
- Go back to the lights puzzle and tap on the door. It will open and you’ll enter a new room with a lake or pond. There is a box in front of the water with some dials and a level. Place the colored arrows in the right positions according to the arrows on the last light puzzle and you will be able to pull the lever.
- There is an old-fashioned submarine-type box hanging from a rope over the water. When you pull the level it’ll fall into the water. Tap on the red circle on the submarine to open the little door and go inside.
