'Cult Of The Lamb': Pro Tips For Combat And Crusading
KEY POINTS
- Cult management must be considered before going on crusades
- Weapons and curses can be unlocked by cultivating the cult
- More rewards can be obtained by revisiting completed areas
Massive Monster's "Cult of the Lamb" features a fairly balanced mix of roguelike action-adventure and adorable animal community management simulator (with a brutal twist).
Navigating through both sides is important for making progress in the game's relatively straightforward story, and players will need all of the advantages they can get if they want to murder the false gods in the name of their one true deity.
Here's a collection of tips to help clear combat rooms and manage the cult more easily.
Stunlock Enemies
The combat in "Cult of the Lamb" rewards hit-and-run tactics, especially in the harder difficulty levels. However, darting in and out of an enemy's comfort zone can lead to lengthy fights that leave the player vulnerable to committing more mistakes.
To offset this, players can instead stunlock enemies by pacing their swings to match their victim's recovery time. After hitting a target with a weapon, it will flinch for a short duration. Wait for this flinch to finish, and then strike them again.
Always Plan Routes
Resources are somewhat hard to come by in the early stages of the game, which makes route planning while mid-crusade a very important aspect of gameplay.
Taking map routes with the most food is highly recommended as it will help keep followers well-fed. It will also keep them from dying of starvation, which can cause a lot of problems down the road.
Focus Upgrades Paths
In most cases, it's better to stick to one upgrade path instead of branching out to multiple ones. Players will get plenty of useful blueprints and unlocks if they focus their points on a single branch. The farming route in the statue, for example, will help players completely automate their food generation by giving followers the ability to tend to crops.
Focus on one upgrade path at a time until the results are satisfactory or until a new need arises.
Sacrificing Followers
Later in the game, players will unlock the ability to sacrifice followers for different perks or benefits. They can be given to The One Who Waits in order to gain more power or to drag the Lamb back to safety during a precarious expedition.
Don't be afraid to sacrifice followers. Everyone is expendable.
