CVS Store Closures 2019: Full List Of Locations Closed

With the announcement of its first-quarter earnings report, CVS Health (CVS) also said it closed 46 stores that were “underperforming.” The store closures happened over the last two months.

CVS reported a 34.8 percent Q1 year-over-year increase in revenue to $61.6 billion. Its operating income increased by 56.8 percent to $3.6 billion with a generated cash flow from operations of $1.9 billion.

For 2019, CVS said it anticipates an operating profit between $11.8 billion and $12 billion.

“We generated strong first quarter results, providing positive momentum to start the year,” Larry Merlo, president and CEO at CVS said. “Following the close of our Aetna acquisition in late November, our first full quarter of combined operations was a success in many ways.”

The 46 store closures come as CVS looks to focus its efforts on health care services such as adding SmileDirectClub to its stores’ footprint, USA Today reported. The closed stores represent less than 1 percent of CVS’ total locations as the company operates 9,600 CVS Pharmacies throughout the U.S.

The store closures were recorded as a $135 million “store rationalization charge” in the first quarter, which ended March 31.
