Earnings season begins this week
Several large companies are set to release quarterly earnings reports later this week, including Pepsi Bottling Group Inc, Alcoa Inc, and Family Dollar Stores, Inc on Tuesday. Chevron will issue an interim quarterly report on Thursday
President Barack Obama in Russia, Italy, Africa
President Obama will begin a three-day trip to Russia on Monday where he will attend a summit on arms control. Later in the week, he will attend Group of Eight meetings in Italy, followed by a stop in Ghana.
Services report Monday
On Monday at 10:00 am, the ISM services index for June is set to be released by the Institute for Supply Management. The report is expected to show that service industries in the U.S. probably shrank in June at a slower pace, indicating easing recession conditions, according to a poll of economists by Bloomberg.
