Residential sales report
Today's new residential sales report for June due at 10:00 a.m. may tell if the sec
tor will continue to rise. In the May report from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, sales were at an adjusted annual rate of 342,000 that was 0.6 percent lower than in April and 32.8 percent below the year earlier period.

Manufacturing in Texas, Midwest
A pair of reports from Texas and the Midwest today will shed light on the manufacturing sector's economy. The Dallas Federal reserve will issue its survey results at 11:30 a.m. and the Chicago Fed will release its updated index at noon.

Residential construction, permits
Today's new residential construction report from the Department of Housing and Urban Development will shed more light on the housing market. Figures to be released today include the number of new building permits for private home issued and new housing starts for the month.
