Large Hadron Collider to restart
The Large Hadron Collider, a giant particle collider and also the biggest and most complex machine man has ever made, will restart in November at a lower energy level,CERN said. The machine aims to reproduce conditions after the Big Bang which scientists say originated the Universe. The opening follows a shutdown just after its inauguration last year because of an over-heating problem. The collider is located underground outside Geneva.
Obama signs 'Cash for Clunkers' into law
President Obama on Friday signed into law an extension of the $2 billion Cash for Clunkers program a day after the U.S. Senate approved approved it with a vote of 60 to 37. The measure was signed quickly by President Obama so that funds could be immediately available.
Crude oil settles at $70.93 on Friday
Crude oil futures declined from a five week high on Friday as the dollar increased. Earlier oil jumped on signs of economic recovery as a report showed job losses and the unemployment rate in the United States declined. Oil settled at $70.93 per barrel at 2:58 p.m. Friday.
