Alcoa to withstand, Pepsi beats Street, US Airways won't cut further
Alcoa to withstand losses in downturn: CEO
Alcoa Inc reported smaller losses for latest reporting period, as the company's CEO said today management moves made so far will let the firm withstand a historic downturn in the aluminum industry. Alcoa's chief executive Klaus Kleinfeld said moves are paying off at the aluminum producer even as prices for aluminum have plunged by nearly half.
Pepsi Beats Expectations
Pepsi Bottling Group reported that net income for the second quarter was $211 million, up from $174 million a year earlier. Results beat Wall Street expectations.
US Airways won't cut capacity further
US Airways Group says it will not be downsizing any further. If anything, we will have a modest expansion internationally, CEO Doug Parker said today. US Airways has already said it will cut its capacity by 4 percent to 6 percent this year.
