Dallas Cowboys Draft 2022: 5 Possible Picks For The No. 24 Pick
The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a player who can make an immediate impact next season in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. With the No. 24 overall selection, the Cowboys can go in a number of different ways.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said that he’d like to pick an offensive lineman that can play right away, though he did suggest that grabbing a pass rusher isn’t off the table. It’s possible that Dallas could draft a wide receiver after losing Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson in the offseason.
Offensive linemen Connor Williams and La’el Collins are gone, creating a need at what was once a team strength. Randy Gregory’s departure is also significant, potentially creating the opportunity to take the best defensive lineman on the board.
Here’s a look at five players who the Cowboys could pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
G Zion Johnson, Boston College
Johnson was a First-Team All-American in his final college football season. Several mock drafts have him going somewhere in the final quarter of the first round, making Johnson a reasonable pick at No. 24.
G Kenyon Green, Texas A&M
Green might be Dallas’ top choice here, but there’s a chance he’ll be taken a few picks ahead of the Cowboys. Green’s ability to potentially play guard or tackle likely intrigues Dallas.
C Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa
Two years after perennial Pro-Bowler Travis Frederick retired, the Cowboys could draft another center in the first round. Center Tyler Biadasz started every game for Dallas in 2021.
DT Jordan Davis, Georgia
The Cowboys probably won’t pick a defensive tackle in the first round, but they might not be able to help themselves if Davis is still on the board. Davis was the best player for the Bulldogs’ top-ranked defense last season.
LB Nakobe Dean, Georgia
The Cowboys hit a home run by drafting linebacker Micah Parsons with last year’s first-round pick. Maybe that would influence their decision to take Dean, who had 10.5 tackles for a loss and two interceptions for Georgia in 2021.
