The NFL playoff picture can change in a number of ways on the final day of the 2019 regular season, but one thing is certain, no matter what happens in Week 17: the NFC East winner will host the NFC West’s second-place team in a wild-card playoff game.

Either the Philadelphia Eagles or Dallas Cowboys will win the NFC East. The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks are going to finish atop the NFC West in some order.

The NFC East champion is guaranteed to be the conference’s No.4 seed. The NFC West runner-up will be the No.5 seed as the first wild-card team. The Minnesota Vikings are locked into the No.6 seed and the second wild-card spot.

A matchup between the Eagles and Seahawks on Wild-Card Weekend 2020 is the most likely scenario.

Philadelphia can clinch the division title by defeating the New York Giants Sunday afternoon. Dallas can only repeat as NFC East champions if the Eagles lose and the Cowboys win at home against the Washington Redskins.

The Sunday night meeting between the 49ers and Seahawks in Seattle is an unofficial NFC West Championship Game. The winner clinches the division title. A tie would give San Francisco the NFC West championship.

San Francisco is a three-point betting favorite in Seattle, according to OddsShark.

A playoff matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers in Dallas is a definite possibility. The Eagles are no lock against the Giants, considering Philadelphia is ravaged by injuries and needed overtime to beat New York a few weeks ago. The Seahawks beat the 49ers in San Francisco last month.

One of the four possible scenarios is a rematch from last year’s first round of the playoffs. The Cowboys beat the Seahawks in Dallas on Wild-Card Weekend 2019.

The Eagles and 49ers met in the wild-card round 23 years ago.

Seattle and San Francisco both enter Week 17 with a chance to earn the No.1 seed in the NFC.
